About

Jessica Califano is the creator of The Modern Mountain House Blog and the design curator of The Modern Mountain House. 

After graduating from New York University, she spent time working in fashion before moving into the tech industry, where she has over 10 years of experience in marketing, PR, and community engagement. 

To fuel her passion and hone her craft, she took continuing education classes at The School of Visual Arts, where she learned the basics of interior design and how to build and design metal furniture.

In 2020, Jessica and her husband moved from NYC, where they lived for nearly 15 years, to Sullivan County in The Catskills. In 2021, she left her job in the tech industry to start her own design, styling, content, and consulting firm focusing on home renovations in the Hudson Valley/Catskill Mountains area. 

Their house sits on 10 acres, much of which is woodland, and contains 3 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, a mother-in-law suite, and a loft. Renovations to the property include extensive landscaping, exterior and interior paint, kitchen remodel, fireplace installation, basement finishing including the addition of a full bathroom, a complete remodel of the primary bathroom, and more. 

She is supported, loved, and kissed every day by her Mini Dachshund, Tina and her wonderful husband, John.
