Black, modern style houses are having a moment. In fact, according to Better Homes & Gardens, all-black exteriors are the #1 on the list of exterior paint color trends for 2021.
Up here in the Catskills, black modern exteriors are everywhere. And I love the look! That’s why one of the first things we did when we moved in was paint the outside of our house. Here’s some houses that inspired me when I was looking at black, modern houses:
When we bought the house, it was a red color, evocative of a barn. Which was not terrible, just not my favorite look. Here’s some photos:
I kept seeing pictures of beautiful, modern A-Frames and cabins in the woods that were painted all black and I wanted in on the trend!
That being said, it’s possible that this style will be a trend and go out of style in a few years. However, the great thing about paint is that it’s not permeant and can be re-done fairly easily.
Anyways, we looked around for the deepest, darkest black we could find and wound up settling on Tricorn Black from Sherwin-Williams. Here’s the result:
